InstantMan is on watch for anti-semitism in the Great White North over at Glenn Reynolds.com. I usually post about Instant when I disagree with him, so I wanted to link him on a worhty topic where we agree. Bravo Glenn! Turn up that InstaHeat!

The New York Times is reporting that a California judge has dismissed suits brought by 12 California cities and counties against gun manufacturers, but will allow suits to proceed against wholesalers and retailers. The decision will be appealed, but even if it is upheld, this development sets up a nasty confrontation that puts the sellers in the middle to take the rap for the entire industry. Look for more Robert Ricker type whistleblowers to emerge in the future. Friday, March 07, 2003

You are right now, as you read this, in a World of Ends. Doc Searls along with David Weinberger has come up with another work in the mode of the Cluetrain Manifesto. Doc says it's different, and he's right, but it is similar in that it is a must read.

The Bear has updated his TTLB Blogosphere Ecosystem in a manner that reflects the growing influence of the Left. Lefties Eric Alterman and Atrios are now #2 and #3 behind InstantMan, and Lefties take four of the top ten and nine of the top twenty spots, including future US Senator Capozzola's Rittenhouse Review. Thanks to MaxSpeak for pushing for the update, and congrats to Kevin Drum/CalPundit for his rapid rise to prominence.

Virtuoso Jazz guitarist Bireli Lagrene is bringing his Gypsy Project to the US for a short tour. Lagrene is considered the heir to Django Reinhardt, and is a virtuoso instrumentalist the likes of which you have to see to believe. If you are in LA, check out the UCLA website for his Royce Hall gig, or go to Bireli's new website for a tour schedule. Dates also in Oakland, Minneapolis, Cedar Rapids, New York, and Montreal before he heads back to Europe. This gets my highest possible recommendation -- especially for guitarists or anyone who loves ethnic music and Jazz. Thursday, March 06, 2003

I, for one, am hoping to have the chance to cut a campaign contribution check to a certain James M. Capozzola of The Rittenhouse Review. Atrios, Talk Left, Hesiod, mfindley, and no doubt a few others, have been suggesting that Jim should run for Arlen Spector's Senate seat. Sounds like a good gag, right? But I'm serious. It would be a lot to ask of Brother Jim, but I think he could hold his own and make it a real race for the seat. I think he should run. It could also be a watershed event for liberal blogging. Imagine the impact of a liberal candidate for a US Senate seat gaining national attention and financial support through the network of liberal bloggers! A little over a year ago, when there were just a relative few of us doing this, I never would have dreamt I'd ever post something like this. But in the wake of Trent Lott's demise at the hands of the bloggers, and the undeniable influence of blogs on the mainstream media, this is far from a crazy idea. Run Jim Run !!!!!

I had missed this until a bit of Googling tonight. It seems that a CBC program has jumped all over the Robert Ricker testimony story and already broadcast a piece about him on February 18th. You can check out their website for a full recap of the program, and even watch the segment. I remain puzzled as to why our "Liberal Media" in this country hasn't done their duty and put the big engine of liberal propaganda to work spreading the word about Mr. Ricker. I mean, c'mon guys! This one's easy! Practically writes itself! Huh? Ohhh... I see. The Media Conglomo bosses wouldn't like it if the story got too much coverage in the current 'march to war marketplace'. So, it's kinda like that cigarette company guy that Mike Wallace interviewed and then hung out to dry, but then he got the Miami Vice guy to make a movie about him and the Tobacco companies had to pay out billions before the dust settled and it was really cool that Russel Crowe played him in the movie and he prolly got to meet Al Pacino... Hellloooooo Lefty bloggers! This one's a gift, guys. What gives? What, are you waiting for InstantMan to cover this? Not likely. If anyone else is blogging on this, please drop me an e-mail. I can't wait to link back to my posts on this guy when the shit hits the fan on this. Wednesday, March 05, 2003

Go read Chris Mooney on the Pledge of Allegience and the Ninth Circuit, and follow his links to Volokh Conspiracy and his earlier post. Warblogging.com has a post on the Mall-dissenters, with a picture of the offending t-shirts. Meryl Yourish is all over PETA like a fur coat. Jeebus, I hate those fuckers... Ginger Stampley makes a good point about the good old boys at Augusta National. Nick Denton has his take on the Schama article that has been hot with the bloggers. I hate to say it, but I think Nick has a point. My favorite repressed Winger, Ben Kepple, can't pass up a juicy porn topic, so the recent O'Reilly v. Jenna Jameson dust up has him pronouncing against porn once again. Hey Kep, if there is no diffenece between porn and prostitution does that mean you think prostitution should be legalized? I know you wouldn't want pornography criminalized, right? Unless maybe you got the gig to decide what qualified as porn... Elton Beard brings us The Shorter George Will. Plus a couple of other good "Shorters"
